Dan holds Bachelor of Science (2007) and Master of Science (2009) degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he majored in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and minored in Business and Insurance. He received the Lettau Award for Outstanding M.S. Thesis for his work on better understanding the mechanisms of frontally-forced undular bores.

Dan joined Aon Benfield in 2012 is currently based in Aon’s Baltimore, Maryland office.  Prior to joining Aon, he spent two years as a research meteorologist at the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) in Madison. 

In his role as an associate director on the catastrophe management team, Dan is responsible for assisting clients and brokers in understanding and managing risk exposure to natural disasters using probabilistic models and other proprietary tools. Dan also provides consulting expertise for clients on meteorological topics for historical and real-time weather events, as well as co-leads the hazard mitigation and catastrophe response team at Aon Benfield, which provides clients with proactive concentration analyses for various perils and insured loss estimates to natural catastrophes in real-time.
