The Department of Environmental Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position in atmospheric science at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized program in atmospheric science focused on ambient measurements related to air quality at local and regional scales. The incumbent is expected to have expertise in ambient measurements of anthropogenic and biogenic aerosols and gases, emission and deposition fluxes, transformations, or transport of related topics. The incumbent would be encourage to work broadly with current faculty with compatible strengths in environmental science, earth science, climate change, ecology, economics, chemistry, physics and related areas. Participation across the campus with the Air Pollution Research Center, College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and technology, Center for Conservation Biology, Water Science and Policy Center, and the center for Sustainable Suburban Development provide unique opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations. The successful candidate will be expected to be fully engaged in the teaching mission of the department and the college, including formal classroom instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and mentoring of baccalaureate, MS and PhD students in research and the process of knowledge development. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of speciality within the the Department of Environmental Sciences and related graduate program in Global Climate and Environmental Sciences and related graduate programs, such as the Graduate Program in Environmental Toxicology and the graduate program in Global Climate and Environmental Change. A PhD in relevant fields and a proven ability to conduct innovative research are required. Evaluations of applications will begin March 1, 2012, but the position will remain open until filled. The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the field of weather analysis and forecasting. Candidates are sought with research expertise in one of more of the following areas: synoptic meteorology, mesoscale meteorology, and forecasting techniques. candidate focusing on hurricanes or other forms of severe weather are of particular interest. A PhD in atmospheric sciences or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is desirable, but is not required. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a prominent research program and to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences is one of the largest such departments in the world, offering degree programs at all levels and research activities across the full spectrum of atmospheric sciences Among the resources available for teaching and research are the ADRAD Doppler radar and access to the SMART-R mobile radar facility, as well as the TAMU Supercomputing Center.

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Clouds, Aerosols, and Climate
McGill University

The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill University is seeking outstanding applicants for the tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Clouds, Aerosols, and Climate. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an active research program, supervise graduate students, and teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses.

The preferred areas of research are rather broad, addressing one or more of a range of topics. These include, but are not limited to, atmospheric radiation, thermodynamics, aerosol physics, cloud and precipitation processes, or aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions, with a goal to improving climate prediction.

A PhD in atmospheric science or a closely related field is required. Candidates with expertise in theory, observation, or modeling will be considered.
