AOS 102 Summer 2017 - online
This 8-week on-line course offered through the UW-Madison was developed collaboratively between CIMSS and the UW Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS). Course content highlights concepts presented in the 2007 Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) Summary for Policymakers and a multi-agency climate education document called Climate Literacy: The Essential Principles of Climate Sciences, with updates from the 2013 IPCC report and the 2014 National Climate Assessment. All content is updated annually to reflect the latest scientific findings on climate and climate change, and we dedicate a full week to the changing weather and climate of the Great Lakes Region. Recent updates were made possible by the UW-Madison Office of Sustainability. Ultimately we're interested in turning knowledge into action.
We're excited to offer this course completely on-line! Along with a lighter carbon footprint and the added convenience of web-based access, we hope you'll enjoy interacting via the weekly on-line discussion forum. An updated course syllabus will be available by May 1st, please check back.
To view the course content and participate in the forum via Learn@UW, you must be registered for section 1 of AOS 102 (640-102-001) for the UW-Madison 2017 summer semester. Please note that reliable access to the Internet is required. If you experience problems with your Internet connection while working on assignments, it is your responsibility to find an alternative Internet access point, such as the library or any other WIFI hot-spot, to keep up and keep learning.
Weekly assignments are due every Saturday at midnight. Weekly content will be released on Fridays. For example, registered students will be able to access the week 1 module on the afternoon of Friday June 9th. See you then!
