SEASONAL
AND ANNUAL PRECIPITATION GRAPHS
The accompanying graph displays the long term variation in seasonal or annual precipitation at a particular station covering the period of record. Monthly precipitation totals are first computed from the sums of the daily precipitation totals. Seasonally precipitation totals are then calculated from the three-month summations for each of the traditional meteorological seasons (DJF for winter, MAM for spring, JJA for summer and SON for autumn). Annual totals are also produced from 12-month totals for the calendar year.
