Notes:
Get used to converting a temperature into what it would feel
like, or how unusual it is in your experience of climate. Be
prepared for values in either Fahrenheit or Centigrade. Almost
every other country in the world except the U.S. uses Centigrade
(or Celsius - they are the same thing).
Sometimes temperature will be stated on an absolute scale,
degrees Kelvin = °K = °C + 273.
If you see atmospheric temperatures like 288° or 300 ° this is probably what is happening. Absolute temperatures are always positive. Zero Kelvin is the
the coldest anything can possibly be, even in a refrigerated box
or in outer space - indeed it has never been achieved, though
values < 0.001 K have been measured under very
