Hydrometer Types

The term hydrometeors encompasses water and ice particles suspended, or falling, in the air as well as those formed at the surface, such as dew. A precipitation particle is a type of hydrometeor. Different precipitation types are listed in the accompanying table.

Relative Humidity

Understanind relative humidity and its relationship to chaning temperature and dew point is very important. High relative humidities can lead to the formation of fog, which is a hazard to take off and landings. Here is an example how RH changes during the day.
