Michael Morgan Appointed Associate Dean for Research in L&S

AOS professor Michael Morgan was recently appointed associate dean for research in the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Letters & Science (L&S).
Morgan brings considerable research and leadership experience to the position. He has been an AOS professor since 1995 and maintains an active and productive research portfolio funded by various federal agencies and corporate partners. He has served in numerous departmental and college leadership roles, including chair of the L&S Curriculum Committee.
Beyond campus, Morgan has held significant administrative and leadership positions, including serving as a senior legislative fellow in the office of U.S. Senator Benjamin Cardin on environmental and energy issues; an assignment at the National Science Foundation, where he was director of the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS); and, most recently, a presidentially appointed and U.S. Senate–confirmed senior leadership role at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as assistant secretary of commerce for environmental observation and prediction.
