Assignment 2: Short answer

Below is a sounding from Albuquerque, NM. At what level(s) is strong wind shear (change in speed greater than 10 kts or change in direction greater than 30 degrees) present? Would you expect turbulence to form, and if so, what type? Hint: Note where the sounding is taken from, and the surrounding topography in the area.

You are diverting a thunderstorm on the downwind side. The sky under the anvil is clear. If you fly under the anvil, it will save time and you might not have to stop for additional fuel. Discuss your options and risks of each option.
