Ally Vizcarra

I am a grad student working with Dan Vimont. My research focuses on ENSO predictability using a linear inverse model (LIM) and a cyclostationary LIM (CSLIM). Using these models, we find that seasonal dynamics are critical for characterizing the deterministic ENSO trajectory, and that seasonality in noise structure and amplitude is important for setting the time scale of ENSO predictability.

I obtained my B.S in applied math from UC Davis, but my interest in atmospheric sciences grew in the latter half of my time there. Post graduating, I was in a year long internship for SAGE III/ISS at NASA Langley which inspired me to want to go to grad school for atmospheric sciences.
